香港理工大学副教授肖斌博士学术报告通知
应信息存储及应用实验室邀请,香港理工大学副教授肖斌博士将访问实验室,并做学术报告和进行学术交流。肖斌博士毕业于University of Texas at Dallas,是IEEE高级会员,在国际权威期刊和顶级会议IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems (TPDS)、IEEE Transactions on Computers (TC)、ACM Transactions on Autonomous and Adaptive Systems (ACM TAAS)、IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing (TMC)、INFOCOM等上发表多篇学术论文,是国际期刊International Journal of Parallel, Emergent and Distributed Systems的编委,担任国际顶级会议ICDCS、INFOCOM等的程序委员会委员,DSN-2011的Poster Co-Chair,获得EUC-2011的最佳论文奖。

题目:RFID Systems: Identification & Localization of Dynamic Tags
摘要:As RFID tags become more ubiquitously available, e.g., in a supermarket, it is necessary to monitor larger-scale tag populations in a dynamic environment to get updated tag information. This talk will first analyze the problem of monitoring a dynamic tag population, to identify both the missing tags and new tags. Traditional approach can solve the problem by collecting all tag IDs in the current population, which could be slow because it ignores the knowledge of the tag population in a previous scan. Thus, two new protocols will be discussed to improve the monitoring accuracy and achieve time-efficiency. Then, the talk will show how to localize misplaced tags, which depart from the majority in the same category. The identification of misplaced tags can be done using a reader vector because separate clusters of readers exist to cover tags in this category. Traditional localization methods can be adopted to localize a misplaced tag once it is identified in a small separate reader cluster. Simulation results show that the discussed approaches are both time-efficient and energy-efficient than previous work for the dynamic tag population monitoring.
